{"id":2315,"date":"2018-05-09T12:07:16","date_gmt":"2018-05-09T10:07:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.magneticdays.com\/en\/?p=2315"},"modified":"2018-06-29T17:40:37","modified_gmt":"2018-06-29T15:40:37","slug":"training-philosophy-md-incremental-test","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.magneticdays.com\/en\/blog-en\/training-philosophy-md-incremental-test\/","title":{"rendered":"MagneticDays Training Philosophy &#8211; incremental exercise test is the way"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In the last article about the\u00a0<strong>MagneticDays<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Training Philosophy<\/strong>\u00a0we have talked about\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.magneticdays.com\/en\/blog-en\/training-philosophy-md-bike-power\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">how to increase Bike Power<\/a>\u00a0<span style=\"color: #000000;\">(the great innovation\u00a0about our Indoor Training System) working with the<strong>\u00a0two fundamental components of\u00a0\u201cPower data\u201d<\/strong>: RPM (Revolution Per Minute) and Force (Newton Per Meters), and <strong><em>how it is absolutely necessary\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>to determine the specific physiological values\u00a0for each athlete\u00a0before to write a custom built training<\/em><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.magneticdays.com\/en\/md-method\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">HTT Methodology<\/a>\u00a0represent the most scientific built training programs that are currently possible and it starts with the incremental exercise test. Everything is based on a first briefing session with a MD Coach, where the user\/client defines own goals. Second step is the start of evaluation of athletic training form in order to understand the real physiological parameters of the user\/athlete.\u00a0Third step is represented by the first 6 built training programs (duration: 60 minutes for each) that are different from each other. The last part of these programs includes additional parameters that allow to create next workouts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> Generally, the last part of workout No 6 is represented by a test that allows to understand the efficacy of the previous workouts and their effects on physiological values of the athlete, giving informations (and new data) to MD Coach in order to write new built (and calibrated) training programs.<\/span><\/p>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Incremental Test is the first approach with MagneticDays<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Our\u00a0incremental test protocol (made in collaboration with a few Italian Universities) starts from a value in the amount of 50% of own reference value<\/strong>. <strong>MD System improves the Power of<\/strong> <strong>1 Watt per 6 seconds with RPM free<\/strong>. This test ends when the\u00a0user\/athlete has\u00a0reached maximum effort\u00a0and therefore cannot proceed further with the\u00a0test.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The first evaluation by MagneticDays is to <strong>observe the natural cadence for each user\/athlete<\/strong>. What does it mean?\u00a0The first important thing for us is to know the natural cycling cadence, in order to optimize the pedalling technique and efficiency for each user\/athlete. <strong>For this reason<\/strong>,<strong> this protocol represent the right compromise between accuracy and execution times<\/strong>.\u00a0Another right protocol (even more accurate than this) is represented by <em>1 Watt per 8 seconds<\/em>, but the execution times are too long.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2310 size-large\" title=\"MagneticDays | Incremental Test | Watt | Newton | RPM\" src=\"https:\/\/www.magneticdays.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/MagneticDays_test_incrementale_Watt_Newton_RPM-1024x591.jpg\" alt=\"MagneticDays | Incremental Test | Watt | Newton | RPM | smart trainer | indoor training\" width=\"1024\" height=\"591\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.magneticdays.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/MagneticDays_test_incrementale_Watt_Newton_RPM-1024x591.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.magneticdays.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/MagneticDays_test_incrementale_Watt_Newton_RPM-600x346.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.magneticdays.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/MagneticDays_test_incrementale_Watt_Newton_RPM-300x173.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.magneticdays.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/MagneticDays_test_incrementale_Watt_Newton_RPM-768x443.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.magneticdays.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/MagneticDays_test_incrementale_Watt_Newton_RPM.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The incremental test protocol\u00a0gives exact data on:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><em>Watt produced by user\/athlete at Threshold<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><em>Physiological features on the basis of the natural balance between RPM\u00a0and Newton<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><em>Average RPM\u00a0produced by user\/athlete from a value in the amount of 50% of own reference value up to the Threshold and over<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><em>Average RPM\u00a0at over the Threshold<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As already mentioned above,\u00a0the\u00a0last part of workout No 6 is represented by\u00a0this test that allows to understand the efficacy of the previous workouts and their effects on physiological values of the athlete, giving informations (and new data) to MD Coach in order to write new built (and calibrated) training programs. <strong>But this test is totally different\u00a0if compared to the last part of workout No 12<\/strong> <strong>(sustainable\u00a0power)<\/strong> if the user\/client chooses to continue with the HTT Methodology.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Having at disposal more data about the user\/athlete, the MD Coach will\u00a0set a typology of workout named &#8220;Time Trial Distance&#8221; (more fun than classic Time Trial) with a duration of 30 minutes.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Incremental test is more accurate with MagneticDays<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>With our Indoor Training System we can\u00a0always refer to the same\u00a0state\u00a0<\/strong>(measuring all the parameters that we need to know)\u00a0<strong>having always the same benchmark<\/strong>, a work condition that is impossible to reproduce outdoor\u00a0where\u00a0everything\u00a0is\u00a0constantly changing (read more\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.magneticdays.com\/en\/blog-en\/training-philosophy-md-cycling-simulator\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>).\u00a0One of the advantages of our System is to have at disposal a &#8220;high precision virtual gear&#8221; (buttons control for\u00a0PC\u00a0or *\/- signs for App WiFi) that allows to make changes in terms of 0,5 Newton to find the best effort during the test (0,5 Newton at 80 RPM are equal to 4 watt). So this virtual gear is <strong>10 time more accuracy<\/strong> than a classic gear, where the change of one of the gear&#8217;s teeth is equal to a variation of 40 Watt with a consequent low quality in terms of determination of the exact &#8220;physiological cycling cadence&#8221; of the user\/athlete.
